1) My introduction

A dictionary definition of winged words: Highly apposite or significant words

When thinking of the title for this blog I was sat on my bed, scratching my head for something not too cliché yet a phrase that captured how I feel about what I want to write and the current situation I find myself in.

Unfortunately, to put it bluntly, my summer has monumentally fucked up. I won’t delve into the gory details of exactly who, what, when, where and why in this first post but believe me..it ain’t pretty.

I guess I hope this space to be somewhere to escape to in the inevitable boredom that accompanies such a summer; throughout these coming months I plan to post as frequently as possible (yep, I know, let’s see how that goes) with explanations of my far-from-fairytale existence that has led to this point as well as many rambling internal monologues and updates on life in general.

This is all very vague isn’t it? Well, if you happen to be someone (perhaps avoiding all manner of life responsibilities that should be getting ticked off the ‘to-do list’) who stumbled across this little corner of the internet and, through a combination of sympathy for a start-up blog, sheer confusion, and perhaps (fingers crossed) a hint of curiosity and genuine interest, then I invite you to stay awhile.

Now, I must admit that my words are neither holy or life-changing as the title of this blog may suggest, however I hope that (due to the fact I currently feel more akin to a caged, flightless bird than one born to soar) I can somehow find my wings through writing for the time being…. *rolls eyes because I’ve fallen into that inevitable, bottomless pit of crass cliché I was so adamant to avoid*

Here’s to hoping this is the beginning of a beautiful, skipping-through-rainbows-to-reach the-shining-pot-of-gold type recovery that we all dream of (mm, I somehow doubt that too.) Quite what I’m attempting to recover from will become clear in the coming posts but for now…

wish me luck!

Yours sincerely, the flightless bird yearning for wings.

  1. Recovery will never be perfect but it will be worth it.You just have to accept that it may feel even worse than relapse for some time but in the end it will be worth it and you will feel so much better.Recovery is more a journey than a destination.

  3. Your words do have wings even if you don’t feel they do right now. You write, you pour forth your inner self, you release them, which is one of the wonders of blogging. And then, words come back, through comments: encouraging, helpful, thoughtful. I don’t see you as a flightless bird. I see you as a young hatchling, spreading her wings and getting the feel for the possibilities ahead.
